Breconshire VE Day celebrations in 1945
The Brecknock Museum at y Gaer is displaying a series of local photographs and newspaper cuttings which bring to life how Breconshire celebrated VE and VJ Days in 1945. The Museum did not have any photos of the VE or VJ Day celebration in its own collection, and the display has been brought together through an appeal to the Breconshire community. It includes a significant archive of photos by Victor Jones - former Brecknock Society member and teacher at Mount Street School, Brecon - who as an amateur photographer took the trouble to record the events back in 1945.

The full series of 23 photos and 13 newspaper cuttings can be viewed on a tablet screen in the Portico entrance hall of the Museum at y Gaer and will remain there throughout the summer.
